Il primo titolo del 2022 rilancia Jannik Sinner nella corsa alle Nitto ATP Finals di Torino. Battendo in finale Carlos Alcaraz, il ventunenne altoatesino è il terzo italiano a scrivere il suo nome nell’albo d’oro dell’ATP 250 di Umago dopo Fabio Fognini (2016) e Marco Cecchinato (2018).
Grazie a questo risultato Jannik ha guadagnato tre posizioni nella Pepperstone ATP Race to Turin (ora è tredicesimo), la classifica che determinerà gli otto qualificati per le Nitto ATP Finals di Torino in programma dal 13 al 20 novembre al Pala Alpitour del capoluogo piemontese.
